Job Description

Job title: Digital Manager

Location: London SE1 OLH

Reports to: Senior Communications and Marketing Manager

Salary: Starting salary £30,328 per annum plus £3,000 Inner London Weighting per annum

Contract: 12 months fixed term contract

Hours: 35 hours per week

Annual leave: 26 days plus 3.5 office closure days and bank holidays

Pension: After probationary period matched employer contribution up to maximum of 5% of salary

Carers Trust is a major charity for, with and about carers. We work to improve support, services and recognition for anyone living with the challenges of caring, unpaid, for a family member or friend who is ill, frail, disabled or has mental health or addiction problems.  

We do this with a UK wide network of quality assured independent partners and through the provision of grants to help carers get the extra help they need to live their own lives. With locally based Network Partners we are able to support carers in their homes through the provision of replacement care, and in the community with information, advice, emotional support, hands on practical help and access to much needed breaks. We offer specialist services for carers of people of all ages and conditions and a range of individual tailored support and group activities.

Our vision is that unpaid carers count and can access the help they need to live their lives.

Overall Purpose of role: 

To lead the effective digital marketing of Carers Trust using all appropriate digital channels to key audiences, encouraging engagement. 

Key activities and responsibilities:

To work with the Senior Communications and Marketing Manager on a redesign of the Carers Trust website and a refresh of the Carers Trust brand.

Lead on the planning and implementation of digital marketing activity including paid and organic search, email marketing campaigns, social media to drive audiences to Carers Trust website to take action to support our work.

Collaborate with the fundraising team to develop Carers Trust’s digital fundraising activity so we are maximising income from digital activity, from both warm and cold supporters. Employ an innovative approach, testing new channels to improve conversions and ROI.

Plan and implement our Google Ads, Keywords and SEO strategy to ensure optimisation of Carers Trust’s website.

Set clear KPIs for all activity and ensure that tracking is in place for all digital marketing activity and that this is appropriately recorded to monitor digital performance and income generation.

Lead on the development of content marketing initiatives - make recommendations on content and channels. Test new initiatives and feedback on what is effective.

Using Google Analytics, work with the Communications team members to audit the website, suggesting improvements to improve user experience and user journeys - this may include usability, design or content.

Lead on the evaluation of projects and campaigns across the charity, using Google Analytics. Report back to key stakeholders on effectiveness and learnings.

Work with the Senior Communications and Marketing Manager to maximise the potential for digital channels to transform the internal communications culture within Carers Trust.

Provide advice and guidance on digital marketing across the organisation, for instance advising other teams on how to drive traffic to the website.

Delegating tasks to the Communications Officer and to support, when appropriate, members of the Fundraising and Communications team.

Supporting the Communications team’s daily work when necessary, including social media posting, website edits, proof-reading.

Person Specification

Essential:

Experience

Demonstrable experience in promoting digital campaigns using social media, search and display advertising and leading on digital transformation within an organisation.

Significant track record of creating compelling digital content, including blogs, graphics and video with strong editorial judgement and the ability to tell a story across multiple digital platforms.

Strong experience of managing and developing CMS websites, CRM systems and social media platforms - with strategic use of targeting/retargeting tools across channels (e.g. Google Tag Manager)

Ability to influence internal and external stakeholders at all levels to deliver projects and achieve digital transformation.

Skills and Abilities

Excellent project management skills

Ability to plan strategically

Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with excellent understanding of how to write for different audiences and how to write optimised copy for websites.

Able to meet deadlines, work under pressure and manage multiple priorities while delivering to deadline.

Strong interest in emerging digital best practice and trends with appetite for applying and testing new ideas.

Self-starter with an ability to generate and develop new ideas from concept to delivery.

Possesses an analytical mind-set and an ability to analyse complex data and campaigns using Google Analytics and other online tools.

Good team player willing to work to team and organisational goals

Passionate about digital campaigns and able to inspire team members about their potential

Desirable

Education

Qualification in Marketing/Digital Marketing or relevant work experience, preferably within the not for profit sector.

Other

Knowledge of GDPR principles

Experience of Charity or not-for-profit sector
